2008 Lady Stallion Volleyball Program Midseason Recap

As the calendar rolls to mid September, the 2008 Lady Stallion Volleyball Program has reached the midpoint in its schedule for the Freshmen and Junior Varsity team, while the varsity team has just began its march towards Topeka.
Freshmen Report
This season's edition of the Freshmen team sees the program introducing a brand new coach, former Stallion standout Kelcy Shackelford and 8 new players into the Lady Stallion fold, who all should become familiar faces on the junior varsity and varsity level in the coming seasons. The freshmen team so far has posted a 2-4 record however has the programs biggest win so far this season by defeating Blue Valley North in a 3 set thriller at Blue Valley North last Tuesday. The freshmen team is starting to come together and is looking to finish the year strong in there final 4 matches.

JV Report
This season's edition of the Junior Varsity team sees a lot of familiar faces from last season who are all getting closer to competing on the varsity team, while the program welcomes a brand new coach, Kelli Shute. The team welcomes back Erin Copeland, Shae Pannell, Raquel Kimbrough, Cierra Bailey, Thelma Johnson, Velma Johnson and Erica McCoy. These returning players are complemented by several new faces to the program that should all make their mark by season end. Currently the team has reached a 4-2 record, with only loses coming to Sumner and Washington. The team is looking to keep improving and build on these early season successes in their final 7 games.

Varsity Report
This season's edition of the varsity team welcomes back returning seniors Kanesha Sutherlin, Keivaughnna Rogers, Lareasha Tibbs and junior Ashleigh Downs who are complemented by the additions of seniors Kameria Garner, Debreya Currie, Shayla Kendrick and Jakara Lee. This years team looks to build on last years strong season that say the Lady Stallion one win away from state. The Lady Stallions kicked off the 2008 campaign at the Keith Lindsay Tournament at Washington and while they came away with a 1-3 record, all indications are that the team is poised for a strong season that may end in Topeka.
